How are you all, I have a problem with installing mozilla thunderbird for managing my email. I simply can't find the script which is responsible for installing it as I did with FireFox. And when I went to the site which has help about installing, it was talking about installing it on windows!!! and did not mention anything about Linux installation. I have tried
- ./run-thunderbird
- ./thunderbird-bin
and nothing happened, they said they can't be initiated. and
- ./thunderbird initiated the program itself... so I said, this is it. I configured it and it was OK! then I closed it, and when I tried to work with it again, it was as if I am runninf it for the first time and there were no configureations there!
Please help me in this

Assalam Alikum,
I have solved my installation problem (there is no installation actually, just a link :) ) But, I can't send mails from my account. I have recieved my emails, but could not send any yet....may be a security configuration problem...I have tried but failed up to now. I use a pop mail (which I prefer) so can you help me with this?

An SMTP mail server needed

I hope this reply is much helpful to you than my other replies to you. Thunderbird is an email client. This means it needs a server that sends the email through. You need to supply thunderbird configuration tool with the proper smtp server (Mail sending server) to use to send emails for you. Most probably every ISP has a mail sending server, try the ISP smtp server (I don't know why could be written there if you are working through one of Egypt Free Internet phone numbers). I think that this problem is much easily solvable if you r in the US right now.

I am in Egypt right now. But I use a DSL connection, do u think this is the cause of the problem? I don't use any 0777xxxx any more! I shall see what I can do. I think the first thing is to try sending emails from Windows.

I think it is a problem with the server, windows refuses to work too. I am on DSL now and I think they dont like it this way ;(

Check ur SMTP server option
Gawab give u pop server to receive ur emails and SMTP server to send ur emails .. check the SMTP server option in ur mail client and Check Gawab webstie for more help about how to adjust pop/smtp option ...
