I propose the community and the current administration team construct a vote to decide whether Conceptor is a good administrator or not.
The member has been on the administrative team for 2 years yet it's very obvious that he does not do any of the requirements when it comes to being an administrator. He doesn't appear only except during campains and elections.
He's one of the best LUG members but I say no as an admin.
I demand a vote being constructed and diaa being demoted from the administrative powers during the voting period.

If I had voice in this conversation, I would like to say you're over reacting ya Mohamed. Not taking backup doesn't require to demote an admin. We can find a solution for this situation.

well i cant say if he is bad or good right now, i don`t know what is the tasks assigned to him and if he doing it or not , but i don`t think we faced any technical problems lately..
so as evaluation for the whole admins team i find they are doing there job pretty well.
conceptor is active or not its doesn't matter with me right now i care about our lug up time...
Msameer, if you insist on that ,i suggest 2 ways:
1- define clearly what is conceptor tasks to be able to judge it
2- the admins team decides if he was doing his job or not

I'm saying it clearly:
Diaa as an administrator doesn't appear EXCEPT when we have elections. Otherwise he's completely inactive as an administrator.
I can't prove this without checking the drupal logs.

I didn't want this to go out of hand. If conceptor had stated that no we don't have recent backup and we have problems we need to fix, it would have been fine.
Instead he took a backup after we posted and said it was taken in the morning. I cannot accept this attitude.
The commands are in the bash history after the commands I used to install the csv module.

As you can see the file creation times are later than he specified too.
The mysqldump command he used also generated an unusable file. Therefore in the case of misfortune we wouldn't have a working backup.
I am all for fixing the problems. But we alse need to fix the attitudes, and be around to practice fixing them..

You can also check the frequency of his posts and you shall see what I mean. An increase during elections.
The charter doesn't specify so I'd assume that we need the normal 27 ballots.

i say backup is not diaa task alone .. admin team should define a way to backup and a place to backup. don`t blame it on one guy. i know that diaa dosn't apper much lately on IRC or so but each one of us has his own reasons. u also spent sometime not appears online, that dosn't make u a bad admin. about the backup i was backing up eglug from time to time. i think alienbrain took a back earlier than this one to work on some fixes and so on. the idea is the Administrator team should define a method for backup. if the administrator team want to assign tasks for each administrator then lets have an administrators meeting then we post the results here online so the community knows what tasks assigned to who.

He decided to post and he tried to misslead the community by providing improper information. He could've said nothing but he said incorrect things on purpose.
If you have more info. aboutthe backups, I'd love to know more details if possible and I'd like to help if you are having problems.

I think we already tried to arrange such admin meetings before and they were unsuccessful. I remember very clearly that diaa accepted the task of writing the automatic backup script.
We also assigned you, Sherif, the security updates, Amr (alienbrain) any php coding, and me the GUC Fest. Now that the GUC fest is over, I mostly useless, unless I get assigned something else. Otherwise I'll be more than happy to step down, if nobody disagrees.
Let's just finish this right here and now, without waiting.

The proper way to take backups for drupal 4.6 running under mysql 4.1+ (AFAIK) is to use mysqldump --compatible=mysql40
Short explanation: because drupal stores the text in utf8 but the tables and mysql "think" that they are latin1.

I agree with Sameer. Diaa is technically great and when we have events e's one of the hardest workers, but outside that we don't see him unless there's votes to be had. I know he's probably busy, but Sameer's right, an admin needs to be on top of this.

Diaa is probably one of the best technically qualified members of eglug and one of the hardest working volunteers in events. But in the past 2 years of being an administrator he showed that he doesn't have time to fulfill his duties as an eglug admin
