I logged on to EGLUG today and I took the shock. I have been a member for a year and ten weeks and I don't remember making something sginficant to the LUG or even to myslelf in the Linux channel. I used the Mandrake 10.0 twice but I didn't go deep through it. I'm interested in the LUG and in the Linux. Am I Lazy or Lost or What?

Well what I can say I Just feel like u I have linux on my pc but I rarely use it I think I am so lazy to make the change or trying to do any homework anyway guys here are so helpful and they really do what they can do hope that I take the step someday :):)

Seriously, it's a nice question, Noble, that made me think too. Actually, I used Linux from almost 5 or 6 years now and being a member in Egypt_Linux mailing list at first then Linux-Egypt group and finally here at EGLUG. Up until now, I didn't know most of the old members unless through wires!!!
Other than making some preliminary support, success to urge few people to use Linux and opensourced programs and distribute some CD on personal bases, I didn't do anything to EgLUG (or even Linux in Egypt in general) that could be counted.
Volunteerism and initiative
I think the issue I have with your post is the phrase "I wish organizers here could give us something real to do!!". That makes me feel like we haven't accomplished anything.
Ikhnaton, the whole point of the community is that the line between ordering and doing, between generating ideas and implementing them, between leader and led, this line is supposed to disappear.
We're all volunteers, even the supposed "organizers". I don't have time to think of something for you to do, and I know alaa doesn't either. It's your LUG, if you see us slacking then you come up with your own ideas and do them.
It's your community, you're not a mowazaf.
Now show me you understood what I wrote and do something.

Just want to say my thoughts
I know this phrase will twin against me. I'm sorry to make you feel like this ("nothing accomplished"). In the contract, I think you accomplished a lot of things.
I just want to say my thoughts loudly, may be it's my weakness point that I can't organize my time to do something with u. I even fail to make that magazine dream true across many LUGs but I'll even after years.
Allow me to propose adding a topic or taxonomy term under forum topics for collecting ideas and suggesstions (any ideas related to LUG) from members. I'm sure many (including me) has many ideas and who knows, it may intiate something new by new members!!!
