hi guys..some weeks ago i came with a probelm how to write arabic at open ofice , and we succesfuly wrote arabic by deleting te mandrake i have.. now i have mandrake 2005 limited edition..
i need to read arabic files made by microsoft windows.. the problem is : 1-when i open such microsoft arabic documents..i see no words at all!!! 2-the grafics in the documants move in starnge way..i mean figures is not in its place..
any idea ?
change or add fonts
did you add the arabic fonts that you are using in M$ document?
or select all and change the font to existing arabic font -on our system like Al-Arabia- .

thanks alot reaaly guys..i was so glad to see arabic hidden things in teh documant.. here what i have made.. ctrl + A and changed font to arbic linux fonts and all things appered.. but now we still have grafics not good..every thing is on each other.. i hope any can tell me what i can do at that.. also , i will make ctrl layout for complex lanugauge and see what will happen .. salam
you need to import windows fonts
for documents to open properly with open office you need to have the same fonts as windows, this can be done by importing windows fonts, run the following command as root
it will search for and import windows fonts automatically.

here what i have done.
1-enable ctl..i always make it but in every new time i need to remake it , why? 2-i have tried alaa command , but it failed i think it searched for windows instalation partation to import fonts from it..but unforantaly i don't have windows installed..i just have linux.. but i will try to get fonts from someone or download it..anyone who knows windows fonts espically this times romans tell me about teh site to download..
but the problems is still...i will try teh new fonts and tell what happened..

ok either you manually change fonts, or get a copy of the MS fonts, they used to be a free download.
