On Ubuntu, When requesting listening to online radio, i.e listening to streaming audio online. I get that "rhythmbox" poping up as (default). How can I let XMMS always take the priority as a default player Is there a way geting that rhythmbox thing out of the way ?? It does not work either.. For saved files we do that from Properties > Open with.. But for streaming audio .. Uhh.. no way..
Your help is highly appreciated
Thanks a lot :)
links
Are u getting the links for the radio stations using firefox?
you can ask firefox to remember the application you want it to open the file with.
I'm trying it out on my computer, when u click on the link firefox will ask you what app to open it with, select xmms.

Hardly any plugins
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I do use firefox to open the links but it does not give me a chance to think about it. In firefox, if you mean using Edit > Preferences > Downloads. I find rhythmox as a default and if I try the radio buttion to open with, I do not find xmms there. It even does not allow me to edit what is in the box (/usr/share/rhythmbox) unless I click Browse. When I do so it just leads me to the file browser which I really do not know where xmms resides to choose it (I do not think I have to do that everytime I install a media player). One more thing that may be useful to you, I can hardly find any plugins when I click the Add Plugins button. The Change Action button is greyed out. I feel that the plugins there are too few in ubuntu unlike any other distro where there are lots of them there.. Help?? Thanks a lot
To find xmms
To find the xmms executable, or any program that you use in general
type on the command line: which xmms
xmms plug-in is missing
Somehow you've to download the xmms plug-in to work with the appropriate file MIME/Type
