IMO its important to show that we don't take ourselves too seriously and that we can have fun too.
humility and a sense of humor are very important for maintaining good relationship, for maintaining the health of the community.
and are part of all FOSS initiatives and groups, just google around, from the names of software projects and commands, to the comments on the code, to the documentations, news articles forums and everything.
the core active members of eglug spend most of their free time and some of their work time on eglug, if we'll be serious all the time we'll end up going mad or fighting each other all the time.
I think it is important to give this message.
I also abhor any false signs of professionalism, amon us are profesionals but the lug is not a professional entity and hobbiest and amateurs and newbies are still the majority.
lets not pretend we are something different from what we are.
a bunch of crazy people with a passion for technology and a belief in FOSS.

We don't wear suits, we are kids and we don't take things too seriously.
This LUG and all LUGs aslan is about having fun and meeting like minded individuals.
If you think of a new slogan, suggest it. But it should be fun, cool and has a local touch. We would love it if we have a song, or even a dance.

and I don't see anything that says we are not serious, we are very serious and did loads of serious work, we just do it while we have fun and we try not to take ourselved too seriously.
there is no such thing as an official LUG so we don't need to say we are not one
we are not just some kids playing with linux, we are this and more the explanation can only be derived by looking around the site no one paragraph will describe us, so instead of defining our character we just talk about our major goals and let the character be sensed
I don't see why we should tell those who don't need to be her that they don't need to be here, they can look around, if they like what they see cool, if they don't bardo cool
we don't select our audience, there is no point in putting such a disclaimer.
and nothing about our character is fixed, it can change (but I expect it will happen organically and not through a single forum discussion).

Some fun won't hurt, we're all volunteers working at our spare time and we're not supposed to be some serious orgranization or anything.
