Mohammed Sameer will give a session on debugging next tuesday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Report on MENGOS workshop 12th-14th July

The workshop was for 3 days from 9 a.m to 4 p.m each day in RITSC in Zamalek. It was aimed for Human Rights and Development NGOs members and it discussed the following issues:

  1. What do you use the internet for?
  2. Explaining some Technical expressions (server, domain, etc.)
  3. Browsers (there exist other browsers apart from IE)
  4. Searching the net and Search engines
  5. Case studies of projects done using the internet
  6. Free Software and GNU\Linux (computer doesn't equal windows)
  7. Communication tools on the internet and Netiquette
  8. Security and privacy
  9. Who owns the internet and about ICANN
  10. WSIS World Summit on Information Society

EGLUG 2nd gathering

remember the gathering is free form, its a mini install fest, anyone who needs help with GNU/Linux, anyone who has questions about GNU/Linux, FOSS and EGLUG is welcome.

but its also a chance to socialize, meet your fellow GNU/Linux freaks, play games and frag each other.

last week it was a bit boring at times so I suggest people plan some useful discussions or something, we can talk long term plans, debug the eglug website have VI vs EMACS mud fights whatever.

يوم الخميس السابق تم بنجاح اول (افعل او مت) وكان هدفه ترجمة مستند From Power Up To Bash Prompt و لم يمت احد!!! اجتمعنا في العاشرة صباحا في الساقية و اتجهنا للمعمل ثم بدأنا العمل حوالي الساعة الثانية عشر و كان حاضرا

بعد ان قررنا عمل تحديات في كل يوم خميس بدا من الخميس الماضي الموافق 8/7/2004 و التي كانت تحت عنوان " ترجمة وثيقة From PowerUp to bash Prompt " و بالفعل نجحنا في التغلب على التحدي .. انما في يوم الخميس القادم الموافق 15/7/2004 هناك تغيير جذري .. ملموس .. مرح و ممتع ايضا .. ليس " اعمل او مت " بل " العب او امت " سنقوم بجمع اكبر عدد من العاب اللينوكس و تجربتها و تقديم تقارير كامله عن كل لعبه من حيث درجة السهوله او الصعوبه .. المتعه

Today's Sakia Gathering

Today several of the EGLUG members gathered in the El Sakia's computer lab. We met some new memembers. One of the people who visited us stubmled across the event by a simple google search.

Some of the guys who passed by buyed GNU/Linux CD's from El Sakia.

We fixed the network connectivity in some of El Sakia's PCs and installed Mandrake 10.0.
