The Azbakeya effect

whirlpool's picture

This might be totally useless. So if you find this silly don't react or comment. Just go on, find something else to read.

I can't read pdf's from the computer monitor. The white background is very bright, it hurts my eye. I used to solve this by exporting the pdf to a text file and put it on my PDA. But, my PDA is cheap and old. It can't do Arabic. So if it is an Arabic book, I have to be tortured with a white background.

The first thing that came to my mind was to simulate old books. The old yellow brown color is very comfortable to the eye. And they have a nice warm fuzzy feel.

Here is a list of several old paper colors, that I use.

  • #f9ecca crème
  • #eec992 yellow orange
  • #debf7f yellow orange
  • #b5917b light brown
