can we make maslan all the users now have role that can vote in the elections and any new user after that join can`t vote in the ranking moudle.y3ny el new users ili will join in or befour election time don`t vote ( become on a role that can`t vote ) la3`ait the election is done.
We discussed this on IRC and it turned out that i was having some paranoid delusions. we also found that its enough to make the watchdog module (the one creating all the logs) to be accessible by everyone at time of elections. And a list of members who gave their vote will be made public after that.
I now think this is enough. Its our job and the candidates job (i.e. you) to closely monitor the logs and see if any strange thing happen. But please complain about them on irc.
this violates the letter of the charter, I'm not saying its a bad idea but it would require a change to the charter, IMO we try now with our current rules and see about changing them after.
also since we have logs and the list of voters it makes sense not to try to fight against hypothetical threats, wait and measure when we detect attempts to sabotage the process we discuss how to avoid them.

either prevent new users from signing in (which is bad) or hack a way to prevent new users, joing at the time of election, from voting. (although some smart guy now can be stocking users now)
ok here is how elections will work, the list of candidates will be siplayed to you in random, you must rank them by order of preference, the candidate you prefer the most gets 1 and the candidate you prefer the least gets the largest rank.
in the end the ranks are summed, the candidates with the least score are elected as moderators.
play around with the italian food list and see how it works.

how is that different from you registering many accounts on EGLUG and waiting for elections time to use them?
unless we use some identity verification method there is not way we can protect from such attacks, IMO we should just accept this and move on.
if the community is not happy about the result it will make itself obvious.
