as you may have noticed the poll block on the right sidebar displays the latest poll only.
polls don't get anounced in the home page (unless a moderator promoted them as a homepage story), and they don't get mentioned in the forums.
which means if we allow all members to post polls no one will get a chance to vote on older polls (unless they activly seek them).
I suggest we make polls a moderators only thingie, but we allow members to suggest polls, maybe find someway to make members rate polls, and each week one poll is selected from the the suggestions and posted.
this way we have a new poll every week, and maybe have a nice page with this months polls or something and everyone is happy.
or we could still give all members posting polls permission but hack a block that displays a manualy chosen poll only, this way we could have a more or less official poll that gets posted on the sidebar (and the homepage?) every (week/2week/month/whatever) and let the members enjoy having their own funky polls, which are displayed in the polls page only (they'd be next to useless there IMO).
it is also obvious that for voting on decision we will need a seperate module. or else real voting will be lost among the almost for fun polls.

i agree on making it a moderator thing and let users suggest polls and also it's better that all polls are to be limitedd in time and make it a "unlimited" option

In fact, isn't there a submission queue? People can suggest polls there. And accepted polls could count towards the user's score thingie which was proposed as an automated way of determining who becomes senior user.

IMO that it`s should be modrated and the members suggestions polls and rate them and every week poll changed that is will be cool...
Suggesting polls
OK, so you said polls should be by moderators only, and others can suggest? Where ba2a? :-) I wanted to add a poll and was lost for a while looking for how to do it till I found this page. There should be an automated system for suggesting polls or at least a unified and easy to find forum topic for it. (Maybe add a link under the polls list: "Suggest a poll".)

For some reason, I get stuck with figuring out new polls and posting them. For the time being, try posting your idea in here for me to see, or come over to the IRC channel and leave a message for me if I'm not there.
Suggestions are very welcome; I'm not all that creative myself.
(note: your poll suggestion is more likely to meet with my approval if it glorifies vim and/or disparages emacs)
