Dear all,
Studio 32 is a community-minded studio that aims at providing music services to amateur and professional musicians. We offer rehearsal rooms, music accessories, instrument repair, music transcription, etc. We would like to create an online forum where the studio personnel and clientele can interact, to discuss those services and more.
We already have web space, so all we need is to install a forum application and to configure it. Can somebody from the EGLUG community help us? We are ready to discuss a modest compensation if necessary.
Thanks in advance,
32, Jeddah st., Dokki
is it a GNU/Linux space
is it a GNU/Linux or BSD hosting space?
in order to install forum software one needs to know the details of your hosting plan.
if you don't know exactly just give us the URL and we'll check.
cheers,
Alaa

phpBB on Lunarpages
Lunarpages does offer a phpBB installation. Unfortunately, Studio 32 uses a *sub-domain* in somebody else's account, and I could not find a way to tell the CPanelX user interface to place the phpBB script in our subfolder instead of the main folder.
But more importantly, the help we need is not just installing the phpBB script, but also technical advice on managing it properly. We simply don't have the time to learn from scratch.
More details on what is needed
Dear all,
Thanks to those who responded, your interest is appreciated.
I would like to clarify the kind of help we expect from the community. It can summarized in the following points:
The reason we are turning to the community is that we don't have experience with those activities, and we have little time to learn how to do them from scratch.

if you only need a forum phpB
if you only need a forum phpBB is fine and if you need a community such as eglug then we can go for drupal

phpBB
Thanks for the info. The only function I am not sure phpBB has is an event calendar, and this is something that we'd like to have, to advertise concerts etc. I noticed that EMajor.net, another local music community, uses PHP Nuke.
If you're willing to help the studio with installing and configuring phpBB or other, please contact me at: karim at studio dash 32 dot com.
Many thanks!
phpWebsite
Lunarpages doesn't seem to offer ssh access to the account; cpanel can be used to install these things, though it makes it a time consuming pain on the rear.

phpWebsite
Thanks Youssef,
phpWebsite does look useful and thoughtfully designed. I found all the modules I need, and then some :-)
I'll try to deploy it myself on Lunarpages. If I run into some serious trouble I'll come back here for help!!
