Well... i2c doesn't like me that much (and the feeling is right back at'cha you bastard), so i found a way to get the temp. directly from ACPI.
this *should* work with most recent processors. I'm not sure about kernel req. but it works fine with 2.6.8-rc4-mm1 (+ reiser4).
