Revision of i found my iso file a zip file! from Thu, 18/06/2009 - 7:35pm

The revisions let you track differences between multiple versions of a post.

one day i installed ubuntu 8.04 desktop after a great suffer and five days of download.. and i instaleed, as well, the md5summer software.. as the last step before burning approaches, i found the iso file, almost 700 MB, a Zip file, and i don't know which file is to be verified via md5summer, as all instructions in the ubuntu's website talk about an "iso file"..

how can this problem be solved in order to have an Ubuntu's live desk without any unrest?

Don't extract the iso file

ISO is not a zip file, it's a file that holds a full cd image.. use this file as is and don't extract it. If you extracted it you won't be able to make the bootable cd from the extracted files.

make md5sum for the ISO file as is, and use your cd-writing software to burn the ISO cd image.
