Ubuntu 7.1 CD not working

I am trying to install Ubuntu 7.1 . Each time I reboot and insert the CD , Ubuntu logo appears on the screen but nothing happen and the laptop freezes . that's my fourth time with different downloads and always had problems starting the CD . Any ideas??

Press CTRL-ALT-F1 to see

Press CTRL-ALT-F1 to see at what point the system stops. There should be an error message.

When I pressed CTRL-ALT-F1

When I pressed CTRL-ALT-F1 this message appeared on the screen:

LOADING , PLEASE WAIT.....

Then nothing happened.

Try This

press (Esc) when the boot menu is shown

and edit the kernel image line by adding

acpi=off hpet=off

I got this message:

Well I don't know exactly what you're talking about, but it *seems* to me that you just wrote down this line.

What he meant was, add this AFTER what is already written.
