Do you like to make an ubuntu local Community in Egypt for support and promote this distro?

hm

I don't know if it's a good idea or not. but IMO eglug should support any kind of distro. i'm supporting ubuntu since i'm using it. other supports gentoo cuz they using it, and so on.... so why the need for other supporting community for ubuntu ?

you are right..

who said eglug doesn't ? it support all distros as i know .. so every newbie will ask what is the distro for me and the mandriva guy will say mandriva , the ubuntu guy will say ubuntu and the gentoo will stay calm for a while and ask if he is a able to compile (or emerge maybe) or not then provide him with gentoo or phaeronix site url ..etc and finally the newbie will ends up with doing alot of distro-testing to choose between or refuse them all and back to windows ..

that is not the point of the local community . the support of ubuntu will not overlap with the lug support (bel3aks) it may encourage people to ask more, try more distros but with people backing them up, cause they know that they don't ask in an empty place .. and beside that lug is not a virtual community .. eglug power is not it's website or it's irc channel i think the lug power in organizing installfests and encouraging companys and organizations to use open source and linux .. ofcourse that will affect the single peoples who like the idea of being free of viruses and spywares and of paying money for getting an OS and also who liked the linux and want to try it . but eglug will not support them if they choosed an distro no one uses it in the lug ... at last eglug will not support every single distro in the world and at least will not be responsible to support (every single distro ) in installfests or after installation time (eglug will not provide documentations or tips and tricks or newsupdate or troubleshooting , bugs info for every distro ..

eglug is not supposed to make a newsletter list for (ubuntu users as an example) to make them updated about ubuntu news ( i talk about people who cann't read and write in english and will not subscribe in official ubuntu site ) .. and ofcourse the language .. as i know arabeyes do a good work in arabization but do you know who provide ubuntu documentation in arabic (there is none yet) ? guess who .. yes the israeli channel .. they also provide face-to-face support in hebrew and arabic and ofcourse that is because there is no arabic spoken LoCo .. what is the problem if there is a LoCo for ubuntu, mandriva, gentoo, suse .. etc and they are all provide eglug with help in installfests, arabized documentations, support, cd's ..everykind of support you imagine for every common distro final word.. it is just a suggestion and want to know your opinions and as i see it .. when you make Loco for the star distros you give your lug a live of competitions and it may make it work better than now .. right?

right

i do agree with u on most of what u said, but eglug should put newbie into the right steps then the user chose if he want to use gentoo or ubuntu or whatever he wants, but why the ubuntu supports will not be from the community i mean by community eglug. but do u think we do have active members to start such a group ? do you think they will have time to contribute in eglug and in ubuntu community ? if so kol ma el groups takter kol may kon a7san :-)

that is another point

ok, eglug can put newbies into the right steps .. but how ? i prefere to read books, manuals, reviews and ask people and try myself to discover .. i think most of newbies do that too .. or ask people who trust and try to do exactly like them

the decision making for the newbie is not easy cause he has alot of options and alot of guides .. it will stay his own decision at end .. so we need to provide him with more information to help him rightly choose the distro without doing alot of tests ..

the active members is really the point here .. i guess there is alot of eglugers who uses ubuntu and i think malek post some good howtos - tutorials in lug encouraging people is not easy .. but it is not impossible too .. every one has something learned if he contributed by it, it will be a great share and a good resources for newbies the time matter is not hard .. cause contribution in loco and eglug will not be that much as i think, beside that everyone can organize his schedule and do it if he really want to ..
