acer doesn't support linux operating system

i just bought my acer laptop it's aspire1692 and i thought that now i can be free from windows and start learning some linux but after a while i was socked i was trying to work with knoppix live cd the latest one and it didn't work so i thought it's because the cd or the the version it self so i tryed to burn another cd and i didn't work too so i tryed fedora live cd and nothing works so i tryed to install it but it didn't work too i send email to acer helping center in dubai and they replayed that acer don't support linux only support the handicap windows...

-iam new with linux i didn't even start working with linux and i wan't to learn linux i wan't to be free from windows operating system i even start learning c programming if there is any thing that i can do please just tell me

didn't work

well first of all thanks guys but nothing worked first i went to the site linux on laptops and they recomanded fedora core 4 so i downloaded it and burned the iso's and start working i faced the same problem and i tried to fix it but the ATI driver didn't work the sound card didn't work and i tried every thing but as a windows user it was hard to work with fedora but i will try again

well first of all i went to linx_on_laptops and they recomanded fedora core 4 to aspire 1692 so i downloaded the iso's and burned them and then i started working i faced the same problems the told me i will face the touch pad thing i fixed it but the ATI DRIVER and the sound card both didn't work i tried every thing but as a windows user it was so damn hard to work with it.
