Hi every one..
Eltayar El Islamy at the faculty of engineering (and probably alex Uni. in general, not sure) is planning a CD sell party. they will sell software, docs, and islamic media to college students. i thought of giving them a copy of mandriva 2006, the Open CD and may be Phaeronix.
Question is, should i ask them to put the lug website "www.eglug.org" on the CD covers or not ?
also, any one knows where to get a recent copy of the Open CD?

i don`t think we care who distribute the CDs or spread linux ,
and its our right to put eglug logo on it as well as URl.

well, i dont think it's about "who" is distributing the CD's. i think may be it's that they will be ditributed alonge side with non FLOSS and maybe even pirated software, although i am not sure this is the reason. i was talking about it in the channel, and was asked to post a topic here to talk about it.
anyways i am downloading the CD's. if any one thinks otherwise, please say so. if not , i will just go on :-)

I'm with devinci on this. If there's a web address on the CDs plus the understanding that this is where to find help and a community then it's a very good idea (assuming you're distributing a distro which is free to copy).

guys, i am sorry i was a bit busy so i didnt replay to this..
i just knew that the CD disribution will start tommorrow. is there any one opposing the idea ? i mean we need a vote if we dont agree, but every one seems to agree.
i talked to them, i will give them the CD's once i am done downloading them. two or three days max. they dont mind at all.
if we couldnt agree on this till then, i will distribut the CD's without the URL this time. and later we can agree on a complete distribution policy...
what do you think ?

i remember linux-egypt we were distbuting Cds in malls and i think they was giving windows pirated for FREE with every new pC :)
