"MultiMedia" ...Please help

Hi.

I am using SimplyMEPIS. I have a problem playing Audio CD's. Everything else does work fine. XMMS plays saved MP3 files, streaming audio etc.. The CDROM reads the CD's with no problem. When playing an audio CD with gnome CD-Player or XMMS. The CD is read, counters work and proceed, tracks are loaded.. BUT NO sound..

Also, sometimes when requesting listening to online radio, i.e listening to streaming audio online. I get "rhythmbox" poping up as (default). How can I let XMMS always take the priority as a default player ??
