Hi all, hope u r all fine and doing well
i have a small idea about an extra demo during the festival, i can dedicate my machine to host all of the latest games which runs on linux like UT2004 & Doom3 since it can support any kind of game then why not let the poeple try and feel the real gaming on linux with the maximum stability possible
for this i can start from today installing MAndriva or any other dist. u suggest and then d/l and install any game that will run on linux ( i will need ur suggestions here since i don't know except UT2004 & DOOM3) and make it ready for a long day of load
i think this is a nice idea and will be very helpful in making the people like linux
but i will need ur suggestions and opinions as soon as possible beside i won't start on this task till i get the OK from a heavy member here ( cause i don't want to face the problem on the festival day like the last year where i have to format my hdd and install a new dist for something else not the thing my machine was planned to be )

I think it's great idea to have games all the day long,it's cool but without distributing FUD ,is DOOM3 or UT2004 has something to do with FOSS.

But I agree that showing pirated games isn't the best idea even if the point is the OS running them.
Aren't there any GPL'ed games using the Quake/Doom engines?

quake 3 is GPL these days
doom 1 and 2 and quake 1, 2 and 3 are GPLed, you can run the demo levels or some homemade level
I suppose any demos are fine also, I remember gentoo had a livecd full of demo games.

the commercial games have demos avilable for free, these should be enough, also there are open source games like enemy territory and bzflag and lighter games like lbreakout and enigma, wouldn't hurt to show them along, but the idea is fine i suppose

I prefer mandrake but any rpm based distro should work (as the jdk is rpm package)
