I'm not really sure that this'll work as sometimes you need to follow with the people and see whether they are doing OK or not.
But why don't we start with 1 lecture to test ??

Let's not use IRC alone. Let's use VNC for actually seeing what the mentor is doing. Or may be some other 'white borad' style app. I don't know, only vnc comes to mind now.

Lectures on The Undernet Server
Long time ago when I used to be an Undernet {IRC Server} Crawler ... A channel was constructed named #OpSchool {Operator School} ... When there was a lecture, A global notice was issued and hundreds of users burst into the channel .. Anywayz .. They make the # in the mode of silence then after about 5 minutes they dont allow people to enter the # ... The instructor starts saying Hello and Welcoming the people and gives us a chance to take our breath then he starts giving the lecture with a period of time between every couple of sentences inorder for the students to follow up with him ... After 10-15 minutes he gives a break and a chance for the students to ask the assistants .. For example if your nickname starts with the letter "C" ... You ask the assistant nicknamed "A-E" ... and if your nickname starts with the letter "M" ... You ask the assistant nicknamed "K-O" ... Thats It.
I Guess we Could take some ideas from this Experience
