I'm using one of the gnome applets called "Inbox Monitor". There's a feature to play a sound when you recieve mail. This is great, except it only works for local mbox (it's greyed out if you choose POP mail). I'd like to hack the applet so that the feature works with POP mail too. What I'd like to know is:
1) What shall I do exactly (obtain source, how to contact GNOME developers, etc..) I've looked at developer.gnome.org, it seems they've arranged TODOs and I'm kinda confused.. 2) I can write plain C and I know a little about GTK/ gnome libraries. Is this enough for the job ?? Note that I'm not really an expert in programming
Is it a good idea mel a7'er ??
loads of app
first thing i would do is look for a different monitor that meets your needs. the problem has probably already been solved and coded. no reason to do it again unless you are pretty sure you can make something better
there're loads of app being able to check remote pop accounts you do not want to spend your time creating another one IMHO
-I used to be indecisive .. but now I'm not so sure
