mm i am trying to use OpenLDAP i installed the packages... i make a test directory and find the entries i made. then i tried to apply a directory schema for an application and its base data... i faced some problem to make this and then i tried to re install LDAP i used the command it did not complete the erase operation and did not go to the prompt "like it is waiting" so i quit this bash and tried to install the openLDAP again but i recieved "package openldap-2.0.27-8 is already installed" while i can not find the LDAP service (/etc/init.d/ldap) to start!!! so what i hope to do is to remove LDAP, re install it as new i hope that can some one help

I would start by verifying the rpm's contents.

Excellent
Al salamo alikom Thank you Ramez for reply. it is excellent to found you play with LDAP :) my distro is Redhat9 "don't ask me why but it is not my decision!!!, i am using fedora core3 in home" i did not find LDAP installed by default so i installed it manual. The application i need to use LDAP is my application, i am developing a project in my company and we uses LDAP+java and then i recommend them Linux+OpenLDAP instead of using a commercail LDAP Server like Sun Directory or others. what about your usage?

it is a fashion
Al salamo alikom i think also that LDAP is the fashion, almost all enterprise applications and any communication related application is using LDAP. it is the rising technology. look, ;) can you administer LDAP?
