proposing an event in ain shams engineering

Alsalamo 3alaykom wa ra7matollahi wa barakato,

Im Abdelrahman, a student in the faculty of engineering Ain shams university and a new member in this site and forum. Im really interested in learning and starting to use linux. I also have enjoyed to linux day that was held in May 2004. therefore i would like to ask u to organize such an event in the faculty of engineering Ain shams university, since i guess that it would attract some audience that is actually ready to learn and is - in a way - cultivated IT-wise.

Ive already asked about the procedures that are to be taken in order to organize anything in the faculty, and what ive reached is as follows:

1. the faculty would show no resistance if the organizers dont as for money or materials or want to put some advertisement stands. 2. in order to execute such an event, we need the aproval of the head of the Computer and Systems department, which (in shaa2 allah) shouldnt be that hard. BUT its required to have a plan or an outline or sth when talking to him in order to give him a overview of what should happen. 3. I have in shaa2 allah the support of an assistant lecturing engineer in the computer and systems department, who is usually of of great support and help and encourages such events.

I hope to hear ur oppinions about this because im very enthusiastic about having this event in the faculty and if there is any "nassiib", ill be determined to help organize this event til the end in shaa2 allah.

If EGLUG volunteers will handle this event it will be free as freedom and free of charge too.

And for the permission we hope it will be easy as you described. For the overview it will be according to the scope of presentation, the presentation may aim to use foss for desktop or introductory presentation, or it may be for encouraging faculty of engineering Ain shams university students to use gnu/linux for specific or development purposes .

salamo 3alikom.. guys... we are the Annual conference for Engineering Students -ACES- which is well established in the faculty of engineering ain shams univ. we can easily acces every about every thing in the faculty and we also have many linux users including me and we wanted to make a fest like this for a long time and that is why we can be of great help for u... we can get u a place inside.. getting laptops and computers.. we can fix times.. we can also publicise for the event which we are good to do... we can also organize the event with u whuch we have a quite good experience in doing it for many event before... and its also free as in freedom and free of charge.... plzcontact me as soon as possible to arrange a meeting between our groups for the best of both of us and for the fest.. mob.: 012 2202526 email: karim.fayez@gmail.com as soon as possible...
