I think it is time to discuss the license for EGLUG content.

Should we use one license on all the content or different licenses??

the point is to ask our members whether they want to enable commercial uses of EGLUG content or not.

to allow commercial use makes it free/open source.

which is why we should offer two CC choices.

Whichever license the poll result chooses will be the default eglug license right ? I want to add an option to allow the author to choose a different license from a predefined list.

We should take care that these licenses should not be incompatible, at least in the case of wiki pages.

From what I understood, the poll is to choose one license that all EGLUG's content will be subject to.

the question of whether the licenses are compatible both ways or not is complex, why mire ourselves in legal issues when choosing a single license is much easier.

also if two licenses are compatible both ways then they're almost identical what's the point in having a choice then.

أنا بقول طالما ان فيه اختلاف على موضوع رخصة واحة أو أكتر من رخصة يبقى نعمل تصويت ونشوف المجتمع بتاعنا عايز ايه، مع احترامى ﻷى حد بس مفيش حد من حقه يفرض رأيه

يبقى الناس اللى عاوزة رخصتين توضح بالظبط الرخصتين (أو أكتر) هيطبقوا على ايه بالظبط وبعدين اللى موافق على التصويت على كده يقول ونجمع النقط وكالعادة، ولو محدش موافق على التصويت على الحكاية دي يبقى خلاص نعمل تصويت على اختيار رخصة واحدة على طول

طيب بعد المناقشة مع فرعون و مسامير و خالد حسني توصلت لأن المشكلة الأساسية في اختيار رخصة واحدة هي المعوقات اللي ممكن تسببها لنسخ أو ترجمة محتوى منشور مسبقا تحت رخصة مختلفة.

يعني مثلا لو اخترنا Creative Commons ده هيمنعنا من نسخ محتوى من ويكيبيديا أو مشروع توثيق اللينوكس.

الحل الوحيد طبعا للمشكلة دي هو طرح كل الرخص الدارجة كاختيارات لكن المشكلة أن تعدد الرخص بيعقد اعادة استخدام المحتوى.

في تصوري أفضل حل هو أننا نختار رخصة واحدة أساسا و دي اللي يندرج تحتها كل المحتوى الخاص بeglug مع اتاحة استخدام رخص أخرى في حالات محددة مثل حالة اعادة استخدام محتوى خارجي أو ترجمة محتوى خارجي.

يعني مثلا هنصوت و نختار GFDL و نحطها في تذييلة الموقع، لكن متاح في حالة الترجمة من محتوى منشور تحت CC أن المترجم يكتب تنويه عن الرخصة في أول الوثيقة و طبعا ينشر قواعد بتشجع الالتزام بالرخصة الأساسية ان أمكن.
