Description The Engineering department is responsible for the development of data center and virtualization management products in collaboration with the software development team. The team is responsible for the perfect design of new products, seamless execution of upgrades, documentation and installation procedures. The projects and activities within the Engineering department are mainly driven by product management. As the products requirements are of a very high level, requirements for the personnel are similar. Therefore he or she needs outstanding technical skills, understanding of systems used in the context of hosting providers and data centers as well as good communication skills
Responsibilities
* Develop new products in collaboration with the software development team * Integrate and automate various Linux based services to ensure smooth data center operation * Build and maintain customized operating systems and software packages * Design, Study, and Benchmark various systems and network trade-offs and provide recommendations * Test products installation and upgrade scenarios before handing them over to operations * Provide installation manuals and user documentation for all products and upgrades
Your Profile
* Bachelor or master degree in Computer science/engineering or similar * 3+ years of experience in systems engineering relevant to the job description * Profound knowledge of Linux based Operating Systems. Knowledge of Solaris and Windows is an asset. * Understanding of virtualization technologies (Xen, VMWare,...), storage (NAS, SAN) and networking technologies (VLAN, L2 and L3 protocols, Firewalling, VPN, Monitoring...) * Profound understanding of Internet technology (HTTP, FTP, SMTP,...) * Experience with scripting: python, bash * Team player * Experience with the configuration of various systems like firewalls, databases, email servers, VoIP systems, gateways, proxy servers,... (the more the better) * Proven experience with IT planning and systems deployment, network and server security, backup and disaster recovery; * Good Knowledge of English Language (required)
